For all of you who are relatively new to Twitter you must have come across some strange looking symbols at some point and and hopefully were interested enough to wounder what they are? Without going into too much detail we will describe the symbols for you:
@ – this is to refer to a person or their post. For example @bingoguy would refer to the twitter page for bingoguy
RT – this is for Re-Tweet. This is a way of passing on what someone else has said. for example RT @bingoguy – great article really enjoyed it.
# – (also known as a hashtag) this is used to tag an event or keyword. If you want to use Twitter search – http://search.twitter.com to find our about a certain topic you can use this symbol. For example #bingo and you can find others tweeting about bingo.
